World Council of Churches WCC
The Protestant Church in Switzerland PCS is a founding member of the World Council of Churches WCC. Numerous representatives of Switzerland’s Reformed churches have been active at the WCC over the past decades as well, including such prominent figures as Lukas Vischer, who passed away in 2008, Adolf Keller, and Jacques Matthey.
The PCS is currently represented by Director of External Relations Serge Fornerod on the WCC Central Committee. The last WCC Assembly, which took place in Busan, South Korea in 2013, called on Christians and the entire world to join in a pilgrimage of justice and peace.
The next Assembly will take place in Karlsruhe from September 8-16, 2021. The Assembly theme will be “Christ’s love moves the world to reconciliation and unity”. The Swiss churches plan to participate extensively.
