The Swiss Bishops’ Conference (SBC)

Ecumenism at the highest level

An important part of ecumenism at the national level is the exchange between the Protestant Church in Switzerland (PCS) and the Swiss Bishops’ Conference (SBC), whose delegations meet one to two times a year. These meetings involve ecumenical projects and commissions for which the PCS and SBC are responsible, as well as ecumenical questions at the theological and practical levels. The PCS consults with the Bishops’ Conference on common social and political challenges, and the delegations exchange ideas for planned statements on federal referendums and joint press releases. At regular retreats, all members of the SBC and the Council of the PCS cultivate theological exchange.
